Sudie’s Seafood House Reveals Zero Trans Fat Seal to Promote Healthier Fried Seafood

Sudie’s Seafood House recently revealed Sudie’s Zero Trans Fat seal to promote their commitment to eliminating partially hydrogenated oils, or trans fats, in their fried foods. Sudie’s has never used partially hydrogenated oils to fry their seafood and with this seal, plans to continue to support a more healthful version of fried catfish and shrimp.

“When we opened Sudie’s, we knew from the beginning that we would not use trans fats when we fried our catfish,” said Brad Bailey, part-owner of Sudie’s Seafood House. “We felt our customers deserved to have delicious seafood without the bad ingredients.”

The partial hydrogenation of vegetable and other oils creates trans fats. This type of artificially created trans fat is the worst kind of fat, even worse than saturated fat. The U.S. Government’s Dietary Guidelines state that trans fat consumption should be kept as low as possible. The U.S. food industry has seen a recent rise in the elimination of trans fats in certain types of foods. Sudie’s seafood has always been trans fat free.

“We hope this seal will make customers aware that we use only the best ingredients to prepare our catfish and other fried foods,” said Bailey. “There is nothing healthy about trans fat and we pride ourselves in the fact that we have stayed away from it.”

Sudie’s Seafood House in League City, Texas, and Sudie’s Catfish House in Pasadena, Texas, are both family-oriented restaurants that offer made-from-scratch menu items that include broiled and fried farm-raised Mississippi catfish, “hand-dipped” butterflied shrimp and other delicious Southern entrees. Part of Bailey’s Family Restaurants, Sudie’s serves great home-style meals in a fun and casual atmosphere. Sudie’s also provides on-site catering and a bulk-to-go menu for any event.
